Here are some quick updates from Al Jazeera on what’s happening in Gaza today:
Israeli strikes have killed and injured many Palestinians across the Gaza Strip, including seven people who lost their lives in an attack on Gaza City in the north.
The latest Israeli military evacuation order has forced injured Palestinians to flee Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in central Gaza’s Deir el-Balah, but the Health Ministry says the hospital will try to remain operational.
Iran has renewed its promise that it or the “axis of resistance” will strike Israel while the Iranian foreign minister told Qatar’s prime minister in Tehran that the country will back any Gaza ceasefire accepted by Hamas.
Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for a drone strike along the Lebanon-Israel border in its first attack since Sunday’s barrage while the Israeli military has bombed southern Lebanon and unsuccessfully tried to assassinate a Hamas operative in a drone strike in Sidon.
Restrictions imposed by Israeli authorities and dire conditions in Gaza continue to hamper humanitarian aid efforts while Israeli military evacuation orders continue to limit access to water in Deir el-Balah, UN agencies report.
Far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has stirred controversy again by saying he wants to see a synagogue built in the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, which settlers again stormed today.
650,000 doses of polio vaccine reached Gaza this week but distribution will be the real challenge. The ministry warned that inoculations alone could not be effective, amid a lack of clean water and personal hygiene supplies, and issues with sewage and waste collection in overcrowded areas where displaced families were sheltering. It said medical teams would need to spread out across the territory, “which requires an urgent cease-fire.”
Muhammad’s family continues their struggle for survival.
The cost of food, water and medicine continue to sky rocket in Gaza which is draining the family’s reserves for evacuation. The cost of survival is inflated and jeopardizes their ability to flee if border crossings open.
The IDF ground incursion is now only 1km from their encampment. Pray for Muhammad’s safety. Pray for his mother and sisters that they remain unharmed.
