On August 30, 2024, I received the following update from Evacuate Fares and his family from Gaza:
Ruins of my city…
Ruins of my life…
Walking back to the ruins of what once was my city…never in my life I felt so defeated. I’m walking among ruins and flashes of people who used to live there, who I used to meet, who I talked to are coming. So many of them are martyrs. Way too many.
Once a place bustling with life, a place you could see people living humbly, simply but grateful for the little they had…is killed. Demons in human shapes killed my city. They killed everything that was good, positive, beautiful, that was representing life itself. Demon worshipers killed life. That’s what they do.
Tears are falling uncontrollably down my face…that was my life, too. Every building, house that was someone’s home, hiding million dreams and hopes, is destroyed. And not just “destroyed”…it was deliberately blown into dust by either bombs from the sky, tank shells or by explosive devices put to destroy and eliminate anything that represented Gaza and its life.
Not only that…you can find videos all over internet that these monsters shared. Blowing up our homes. Blowing up our lives. They proudly share it for the entire world to see. And yet…world does nothing.
I feel like in a parallel universe…while walking through rubble…feels like entire life has gone…the entire world is gone. My world is gone.
I feel like losing my breath and closing my eyes forever…
