On November 15, 2024, Wear The Peace celebrated their 8th birthday. Here’s what they had to say in their following email to me:

Hey Sena,

I hope you’re having a blessed Friday. Today is Wear The Peace’s 8th Birthday. It’s crazy to think that on November 15th 2016, we started out from the kitchen of my basement. We were 20 years old then, with no idea what creating a brand even meant or where we were even going to end up. Nonetheless, we knew we wanted to create something that can help others.

Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine growing such a beautiful online family. Hundreds of thousands of humans who care deeply for others. We would’ve never dreamed that this brand would contribute over $2,200,000 to humanitarian causes around the world and at the same time be blessed with a platform to be able to give the voiceless a voice.

It’s hard to celebrate with everything going on. We continue to see burning families in tents in Gaza. We continue to see families being slaughtered in Sudan. Children in Congo dying to make our phone batteries. Children in Yemen eating their own fingers from the starvation they face. We continue to see humans oppressed in every country on earth. It all weighs so heavy on our heart. Every single day.

Our celebration was eating our homemade watermelon cake, and then we went back to work because the job will never be finished until everyone is free. I truly believe that the chains of oppression will be destroyed in our lifetime and that liberation and human rights will blossom within all communities who have been stripped from it.

Keep fighting for others. There is nothing more important we can be doing. May we all see peace soon.

Thank you for being a part of this beautiful family, I cannot thank you enough.

Peace and blessings,
Murad
