On March 8, 2025, Fares posted the following update to the campaign, Evacuate Fares and his family from Gaza:
“International Women’s Day. Pain of missing my beloved martyrs. And all in between.”
I really, really want to write something uplifting and positive. Even from my plastic tent, surrounded by rubble and misery. But these days, the pain doesn’t leave my heart. It’s hard. It’s really hard.
I will try to clear my head and articulate the best way I can.
Firstly, Happy International Women’s Day to all my dear women, near and far. To my amazing mother, sister, my aunts, my family members and friends. To all of you, my dear ladies, near and far, who support me and shower me with love, support and encouragement and help me just by being you! In our culture, in Palestine, women are respected and appreciated. In our faith, Islam, women have special place and the last words of our Prophet Muhammad SAW, before he left this world, were his instructions to treat women well. Don’t forget that as Muslims, we believe that paradise lies beneath mother’s feet. So for me, every day should be Women’s Day and women should be treated with care, love, respect always.
These days I can’t stop thinking of my martyred friends and relatives. They are haunting me. I see them in my dreams, I hear their voices, and tears can’t stop falling. The emptiness is huge. Sometimes I feel like I will see them, sometimes I feel like I’m going to wake up from this nightmare and I will see them…sometimes I hear over and over again the messages on my phone from my best friend Ibrahim. I can’t let go. I simply can’t let go. They were taken from me for simple reason being Gazans living in Gaza. Cause they were born and were living here. In their own land. Killed senselessly. Killed by the worst of this rotten world that has lost all senses and can’t differentiate between good and evil.
Our suffering continues. The most powerful and rich are threatening us, Gazawi people, with death threats. Is it a sin to be Gazawi?
Is it really a sin that we are Gazan people born and living in Gaza?
To this twisted world, it certainly is.
Please continue praying for Gaza and all of us, my dear friends.
I love you all!
