Evacuate Fares and his family from Gaza

July 1, 2024:

**Fares’ Post Today**

A new displacement to my city khan younis, displacement ‘destruction’ and suffering again. 🙁

**Message from Marie:**

The IOF has now returned to Khan Younis after destroying Rafah, fully aware that innocent people, hospitals, and international aid workers are there. They continue their relentless destruction, torturing and tormenting civilians. Fares sent a message along with photos (they are videos on his social media) this morning, capturing the devastating reality.

When we first set up this GoFundMe, we had high hopes that Fares and his family could safely cross the Rafah border. Unfortunately, due to closures by Israeli forces, their situation has become far more desperate.

Now, more than ever, Fares and his family urgently need our support. They need essential items like food, water, and clothing, as well as funds to cover the costs associated with MORE displacements. They are struggling to survive and avoid starvation.

We still aim to meet our fundraising goal, striving to raise the remaining $32,000 so we can be ready for the moment the Rafah crossing opens. Right now, though, their immediate needs are our top priority.

Your generous donations are providing a lifeline, helping them endure these incredibly challenging times. Thank you for your kindness and support.

If it’s been a while, please consider donating today’s coffee money. We are halfway to our goal.

July 2, 2024:

From Fares, posted today on social media: https://www.facebook.com/faresabulebda

I was forced to evacuate again. If I stayed with my family in our plastic tent, I would be killed with them.

The occupation killing machine is unstoppable. There is no way surviving it.

We all got notice from occupation that we need to evacuate, leave the place, and fast.

I’m tired. I’m exhausted. I honestly don’t know where do I keep my strength from.

Only Allah is sustaining me my family.

I have no choice to be strong and forget about how I feel. I’m responsible for my family and I need to think quickly in such death and life situations.

We will see the consequences of this choice. With occupation, you never know and can’t trust them. They lie, it’s their specialty, their very being, and they say one thing and do the opposite.

Please, my dear friends, keep us in your prayers. Don’t stop praying for us.

Please don’t forget us…

SAY NO TO GENOCIDE!!! HELP MUHAMMAD SAVE HIS FAMILY!!! (July 4, 2024)

Dear Team,

As people in the US celebrate the Fourth of July, the historic day in 1776 when the Declaration of Independence was adopted, we must reflect on the fact that the birth of this new nation was founded on the desire to escape Imperial rule and persecution. The declaration of independence, and later the Bill of Rights, applied the principles of liberty, equality, and justice for all as the ultimate solution to tyrannical imperialism. July 4th symbolizes the people’s triumph over this imperial tyranny through the power of collective aspiration to create a nation where every individual’s rights could be recognized and protected.

The concept was right though the true application of liberty and justice for all certainly did not favor the rights of indigenous peoples, slaves, women or children for many more decades and still falls short of what those words really mean. We can never stray from our vigilance in protecting the true intentions of those words.

Today the ideals of liberty, equality, and justice stand starkly contradicted by the US support for actions that result in immense suffering and loss of innocent lives in many vulnerable parts of the world, in particular in Palestine.

The US government has spent the last 76 years providing endless supplies of weapons and funds to fuel Israeli terrorism and has shielded Israel and its tyrannical government from international criticism or any meaningful intervention. The US government attempts to silence Palestinians and allies, criminalize activism and erase Palestinian history. Thereby the United States’ support of Israeli Aparatheid has ensured that Palestinians had no right to decide their own fate, to remain on or protect their own land, or enjoy any semblance of the pursuit of happiness and freedom.

And since October 7th the US has blatantly participated in the ethnic cleansing of Gaza. The genocide, prolonged by external support from world Empires, illuminates the moral and ethical failures the world must confront. Each of our nations’ involvement in this crisis calls into question our society’s commitment to morality and ethics, but especially for Americans, it calls into question the very principles we celebrate on this day.

As we reflect on the ideals of July 4th, I would like to remind you of one of the most powerful and extraordinary historical voices that addressed these contradictions: Frederick Douglass. Douglass was born into the brutality of slavery but rose to become an influential abolitionist, writer and critical mind of the 19th century. His life and work represent a relentless struggle for freedom and equality.

On July 5, 1852, Douglass delivered a momentous speech commemorating the Declaration of Independence and in it he posed this question to his audience: “What, to the American slave, is your Fourth of July?”

His speech was actually a profound examination of the obvious disparities between the ideals celebrated on Independence Day and the inhumane realities of enslaved African Americans.

Douglass’ address is indeed a scorching irony as we look upon our own US political horizon and the jeopardy we find our Bill of Rights currently facing. As we watch our civil rights lie bleeding and injured in the halls of justice, Americans may start to realize that we are re-entering the dark age of tyrannical rule, fascism rebranded as “democracy”.

My call to all of you on this day of independence is to implore you hold fast to your commitment to uphold The Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Demand it.

Demand the “recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world”.

Never waver from your vigilance to protect these ideals and demand that these rights be protected by the rule of law where ever you are.

It’s easy to become hopeless. We are all fatigued. We are all emotionally threadbare. The feeling of powerlessness is overwhelming for sure.

But we are an unrelenting community and together our strength and empathy and conviction in supporting our oppressed brothers and sisters, and our unconditional support for one and other, will get us to victory.

And so I wish you a happy independence day and I acknowledge and appreciate you for all of your hard work and commitment to liberate and save Palestinian lives.

I am proud of you. And you give me so much hope.

Muhammad and his family send you deep gratitude. Your contributions to his campaign have made their survival possible. And while their suffering is something most of us can not grasp, he wants you to know that your alliance provides them much comfort. He sends his love.

With much love and in eternal solidarity,

Jenn
