Here are some updates from the campaign, Evacuate Fares and his family from Gaza:
August 24, 2024:
Dear friends, your support and involvement in my campaign are vital in saving me and my family during these challenging times. The current situation is incredibly difficult, marked by daily displacements and a relentless struggle in the midst of what feels like a war of genocide. I earnestly request you to share the campaign widely, aiming to swiftly achieve our fundraising goal and ensure the safety of all my family members, facilitating out evacuation from the Gaza Strip. Your assistance is sincerely appreciated.

In the U.S., it often feels like we’re living in a dystopian nightmare.
One side spews venomous words and actions, while the other sidesteps accountability for genocide, masking it with grandiose virtue signaling and empty promises.
People seem trapped in an embarrassing infatuation with leaders, idolizing them while ignoring the harm both sides are causing in our name.
Through all this, Fares and his family have persevered through unimaginable hardships, showing incredible strength and resilience.
Despite the loneliness that comes from seeing so many around us stay silent or look the other way, I’ve found real comfort in the new friends I’ve made—Palestinians and allies who have stood together over the past ten months. Our connection has been a source of strength.
I’m sharing this because I’m one of the few mutual aid organizers working with Fares.
We’re so close to reaching our first stretch goal, anxiously awaiting the Rafah border to open. Together, we can make this happen.
Could you donate what you might spend on a weekend coffee today? Every contribution matters, even if it’s just $5 or $8.
Thank you for supporting Fares and his family. Your support truly means a lot.
As my kid filmed this, Mt. Tahoma (also known as Mt. Rainier) made its appearance. I don’t know about you, but whenever this mountain peeks out from the clouds (there are many days you don’t even know it’s there), I get giddy and find hope in the world. Hope remains, in its own time.
August 21, 2024:
How does it feel to share tears with your friends online?
Hard. Feeling of desperation, immense sadness and pain that never leaves my heart is very heavy burden.
Sometimes I share this burden with my dear friends. Sometimes, when I am at more- less safe place and I have internet, I have the luxury of sharing all these heavy feelings with people who love me and are suffering with me, people outside Gaza. I can tell all what lays in my heart without restraint and with complete freedom. And that means a lot to me.
Today we shared pain again. Today we shared our tears, our thoughts and worries.
My people are literally being annihilated in front of my eyes. Make no mistake, I can be easily in that statistic. We never know when is our time to go.
More massacres, more people killed, schools being bombed again, kids being bombed when in the streets (like they really have any safe place to be?!), people in my village being killed while charging their phones and searching for internet access at improvised station. Exodus of people from the central Gaza is in full force, images repeating again…colons of people taking the very little of their things needed for survival are on the move again. You all know by now that these monsters love to kill people when they are fleeing. My heart screams for them! I wish I could save and protect them all…but myself being a refugee living in a tent…being displaced several times, can’t help them…
Oh my beloved people…I’m lost for words, and all that is left are my tears.
I cried together with my friend online. That’s all I could do.
