Evacuate Fares and his family from Gaza (Update #13)

Yesterday, I received the following updates from Evacuate Fares and his family from Gaza:

Marie:

Hi, Britt here. I’m one of the mutual fundraisers working closely with Fares.

Today, I attended the Palestine Will Live Forever festival in Seattle, and it was such a powerful experience. People from all walks of life came together, united by a shared sense of humanity.

I’ll tell you this… in a time when silence feels like the norm, it was incredibly moving to witness this kind of community-driven solidarity. I couldn’t help but think about how much this support must mean to Fares and others surviving genocide, and how important it is for them to know they’re not alone.

At the festival, our mutual aid group set up a table where we handed out poppies, each with a GoFundMe code attached. The funds raised go directly to families facing unimaginable horror, including Fares, his younger siblings, and his little nieces and nephews. With the Rafah border still closed, they’re relying on this community support for basic necessities.

I know many of you have already been incredibly generous, and we’re so grateful for your ongoing support. But if it’s been a while since your last donation and you’re able to contribute again, even a small amount can make a huge difference for Fares and his family right now. Thank you so much.

p.s. I’d love to hear about any community solidarity events or acts of unity you’re involved in. What are you doing that brings hope and strength to all of us during these difficult times?

Here’s a video of Samer singing World Goes Blind and some photos of our mutual aid table with the poppies and QR codes for the GoFundMe pages, including Fares’ family.

Fares:

I’m wondering should I even post or not…but I owe it to all of you, my dear friends, to keep you posted.
You have been with me all the time, supporting me, helping me and showing so much love and care. You have been my rock in this horrible times.
It’s not getting any better, my dear friends. It’s getting worse. More and more massacres, more martyrs, more wounded and permanently disabled people…that’s the situation and that’s the reality. I’m really losing my mind, my sanity, my physical and mental health. I’m losing hope. I really see no end of this nightmare I am living in.
The evil that fell upon us has surpassed any limits of sadism, of cruelty and brutality. I have never seen and felt so much hatred towards us, Palestinians. This monsters want to completely exterminate us. I see it clearly now. They want to kill us all and take our land. It’s not a secret anymore.
We don’t put any more hopes in “the world” to stop them and save us. “The world” is enabling and supporting them.
I know you are trying your best, my dear friends. And I appreciate it so much. It means the world to me. But sad truth is that people like you are rare and minority. I know too well you are exposing yourself to all kinds of danger to show your support for me and my people.
Some things are beyond my comprehension…the level of pure evil and hatred, and why is it aimed at me and my people? I will never understand. I’m a peaceful person, a pacifist who hates nobody, even though I would have many reasons to hate. I’m not that kind of person. Therefore, I really can’t understand and grasp that.
I guess some things are just beyond human capacity to comprehend.
Keep praying for me and my people, my dear friends.
You are a light in my very dark life.

I also received an email from Murad from Wear The Peace yesterday as well:

Hi Sena,

I hope your weekend is going well so far.

Today, a video popped up on my feed. It was a video taken by Palestinian journalist, Duaa Tuaimi, of children smiling and playing in an area that was later targeted by the IOF. The attack was done in late May and it burnt a whole camp of tents. Humans were burned alive as many brave Palestinians ran into the burning blaze to try and save as many people as they can. Sadly there wasn’t many to save as most of them were burnt alive in their tents. The journalist mentioned that she was not sure who from the children filmed were killed. I cried as I watched these children smile and interact with Duaa. I rewatched the video today tens of times, wondering how the world has moved on. How has the world moved on from these children. How were they able to be burned alive. How does it continue to happen.

Sometimes I come to write the WTP family an email and I end up just erasing it and scrapping it. I know your hearts are weighing heavy as this genocide seems to get worse and worse. I know you feel like all these children are yours. We hurt as if they are related to us.

Today is also International Peace Day which is a United Nations-sanctioned holiday observed annually on September 21st. I find it ironic that the UN sanctioned this holiday while this year has shown us once again that peace is not a human right for all. This year has proved to us, once again, that justice is not a human right to all. As we are only 2 weeks away from the genocide in Gaza reaching it’s one year mark, one thing that has brought me joy is to see how many people are still fighting for human rights. Keep shouting for others to have peace, safety, and freedom.

This week, we launched a collection with Renad, a little girl who I feel is like my little sister. We were contacted by her older sister, Nourhan, back in April to collaborate on videos so that Renad’s videos can reach more people. We were more than honored to showcase her adorable cooking videos. She continued to grow and continued to make the world smile with her beautiful videos. When they brought up the idea of making a collection together, we were ecstatic to try and make her dream come true and we’re so happy we were able to. If you haven’t checked out the collection yet, I urge you to at least check out the pieces just to see her art because she is so proud of it and we are so proud of her.

Thank you for all the support. Do not lose faith in humanity. Palestine will be free.
